RE-DISCOVERING HAPPINESS

Sometimes, something happens and you decide to write and someone else inside of you is writing a letter to yourself and you pass it along expecting nothing in return…

RE-DISCOVERING HAPPINESS

Happiness had been out of work for years. He didn’t know how it had happened, but no one seemed to need him anymore.

Who would have thought that Happiness would go out of style, but it had.

It had almost become “uncool” to want to be happy, and so while Anger and Moody, Cranky and Sad were in huge demand, Happiness was not just in short supply, there was no place for it.

Sure, there were emojis that said Happy and words that said Happy, and there was always that song by Pharrell about being Happy, and some years before that, Bobby McFerrin sang, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”, but recently, it was almost as if everyone had forgotten how to BE happy, and the importance of being happy and how good it feels to smile and pass that smile along.

Happiness was starting to actually feel sad, but he knew that this was something he didn’t need nor what the world needed.

The world needed Love and Peace, but even they had disappeared.

Love and Peace were his best friends who had somehow left for somewhere over the rainbow.

Where were they these days so full of so much negativity and the feeling that the world was running out of time- running out of time to find its way and become a happy place?

Happiness had been to every employment agency and none had anything for him.

He heard what he had heard for the past few years- how his time had come and gone and how people actually WANTED to be sad and miserable and angry and, well, unhappy.

He refused to believe that Happiness could ever be in short supply or that the world didn’t need Peace and Love.

He remembered those days when Ringo and Paul would always sign off with Peace and Love, and how with their two friends, they sang that all we need is Love.

Happiness was thinking what he could do to bring these feelings back.

He floated through life seeing so many looking for something that they couldn’t find when it was right in front of them- Happiness.

Sometimes, like especially now, there’s a need to not overthink simple and positive things that have been given to you for free and are there to make you feel good and happy.

When it knocks on your door, let Happiness in.

It can take you a very long way.
