Those in horse racing who look beyond the obvious have been looking at how the game can be marketed to different audiences- like those in China.
After all, one size and X/Twitter doesn’t fit all.
Meanwhile, a few things about jockey Rachel King who will be in the thick of things at tomorrow night’s International Jockeys Challenge that Hong Kong racing fans and others outside of Australia might not know about…
One of our favourite riders, the first Group 1 winner for the British born and Australia based Rachel King was Maid Of Heaven trained by now Hong Kong based Mark Newnham.
Currently sitting second in the trainers standings in the city, Newnham also provided the extremely good rider with her first Group 2 and Group 3 winners and signed her apprentice papers in New South Wales when working for Gai Waterhouse.
That small racing world just got smaller- but also more bigger.
Speaking of which, the marketing and communications strategy for horse racing and how it can reach a far bigger audience through, for example, perhaps Weibo, the Chinese version of X/Twitter, with its KOLs and influencers, and Rednote, is going to be very interesting…and a very important game changer in attracting those in China.
