Very interesting how popular this is with people… Must be the emotional attachment I have been banging on about for years!!! Like an old woman.
Feel Good moments have become a rarity as we almost have to fight off negativity and find a happy place.
We have become cynical and confused and angry and sad, all at the same time for no reason whatsoever.
So, when these Feel Good moments come along, grab them and make them last. They might never come your way again.
While watching the races on television tonight, I saw Zac Purton ride a winner. Nothing new about that. Zac rides winners all the time.
I then realised that the winner was a rare ride on a galloper trained by his great rival Douglas Whyte- a lovely hands and heels ride without resorting to the whip.
Those who don’t follow horse racing might not understand the irony behind this particular win…
Zac Purton has his sights set on breaking the one record that still eludes him, which is to ride more winners than Douglas Whyte did when riding in the city and being Hong Kong’s champion jockey for thirteen consecutive years.
Though no one will ever break that record of a thirteen year reign, the countdown to Zac riding more winners than Douglas- never a whip happy rider- spices things up for those who enjoy these moments.
Being friends with both, and a very good longtime friend of Douglas, I don’t really care about any of this.
In my book, both are winners in their own ways. Respect.
My interest are in my Feel Good moments and how they happen and when and where.
A Feel Good moment on a racetrack?
These happen more often than people think. And when they do and somehow adds something to your day, it means something. You remember it.
So for my Feel Good moment on a pretty drab Wednesday night in Hong Kong, I have Zac and Douglas to thank- an odd couple and very different to each other.
It’s a moment in time that makes me smile and makes my Feel Good moment feel even better.
